Hi there,

I'm from RSA and have a '98 civic 1.6i DOHC VTEC.
Can anyone tell me what my engine model number is, and if possible
what ECU I have, mods available etc?

Thanks

that's probably equivalent to the Civic Si in the united states, although i'm just guessing. if so it's a b16a with a p2t ECU, but it might be different for different countries. The engine type is stamped on the engine and the ECU "model" is also written on the ECU.

Hey, thanks very much.

I will check them out and post here. Is the ECU under the dash?

The ECU for that year civic should be found behind the kick panel where the front passenger's right foot would be. Assuming, of course, that passengers in South African cars sit on the right side of the car. :)

:)

SA like UK, drivers on right, passengers on left, we drive on left hand side
of the roads (when sober).
I removed the covers and had a squiz, there is a suspicious black box (approx: 5cmW, 15cmL, 8cmH) just left of the steering column, but no noticable identification. (Was replacing aerial, crikey the Japanese have small hands!) :)

Will check passenger (left) and driver (right) kickpanels tonight.

Thanks very much.
