First try changing the target slip until you find what works for you. Typical values are 2% - 6%.
If you're still getting a lot of slip in lower gears then next I would reduce the torque in 1st & 2nd gears.
Finally if everything is good then the PID can be altered to give a smoother retard. eg so it does not oscillate.

Question on tbe Pid settings. The default is 100 for p and d. In tbe help section it talks about settings of 1. Has something changed and should I start from 100 during testing?

sorry for bringing this back, but this thread comes up often
under traction Control PID on Flashpro Manager....
What does "dec" mean next to the boxes? And what are the valid values to be used? 0-100? 0-1000? any integer?
Nothing in help files clarifies this

'decimal'. PID numbers are unitless.

Hondata I think Gotslicks was referring to this helper

Does anyone have a log with traction control working and PID activated?
From what I understand, we can use it as a PD controller. I have experience with PID controllers from coffee machines, so I will try to test how it improves the efficiency of the traction control.
