Live Tuning

Post by asimon »

I've got a problem with a JDM DC5 ITR race car. We fitted a K-Pro early last year and tuned the engine which all went smoothly as expected. I had some weirdness with the live tuning not functioning as expected for the cam angle maps - It all appeared to be functioning but the actual cam angle didn't track my target. I've just got the car back in our shop to sort through a few other unrelated aspects. This gave me the opportunity to have another look at the live tuning and this is what I'm finding:

1. If I select low speed cam target and high speed cam target tables to be live tuneable and then upload this calibration to the ECU the car is undriveable. It will idle fine but any amount of throttle application results in a relay clicking every few seconds and the ECU resetting (seemingly). It seems like the kmanager software locks up when this occurs too. If I only select low speed cam angle this doesn't happen.
2. Even with just the low speed cam angle map selected for live tuning I can't actually get this to function. When I click the little 'live' box beside the relevant table it shows the yellow diamond as expected. I then upload the calibration and instead of showing the green tick it just goes blank again.

Other relevant information - The software is current as of yesterday. The previous time the vehicle was tuned (about 18 months ago) it was current at the time, so there has been a change in software between dyno sessions. Any help appreciated.

Please post the calibration and if possible a datalog.

After tuning you do not want to leave live tuning enabled for any tables.
