Voltage drop for Inputs and set up

Long story short:
I have a Surge Tank with sensors for full and empty to notify driver to activate surge pump.
Sensors send 12v+ 1 watt power signal when completed circuit is submerged in fuel. When voltage drops to 0v the sensor says you are out of fuel no longer completing the circuit.

Analog inputs are 0-5v
Running an AEM CD-7 I want to drop the voltage to 5v into my Kpro V4
Engineer says run a 7k and 5k ohm resistor to drop the signal voltage.

Will this work over CAN to the CD-7 if I set up the parameters in KPro?
I should be able to send this custom input and program the CD-7 to to display a warning when signal is 0v

Any help would be appreciated

You can try it, measure the voltage and then test it.

Should work if the dash listens to 0x667 or 0x668 CAN packets which have the analog voltages.

A car doesn't run at 12V (it can be up to 15.3V) so that voltage divider would give a voltage well over 5V, so normally you would use a zener diode to clamp the voltage to 5V or below. But that zener is already in the KPro input circuit so it would be ok.

The surge tank has a micro processor and OP amp switching the signal at a clean 12v
I will try this and measure result before connection
I assume this setup will work as the CD-7 dash will handle the warnings and monitor the level
