S300 + Innovate LC2 Voltage Spikes Issues -=HELP=-

Hi guys,

I'm New into Hondata World, but last month I bought a EJ1 1995 with B16A2 engine. The last owner told me that the Car was modified but still N/A and had a Hondata Installed ( he didnt install it, according to him, this ECU was bought on EBAY ) I still not able to know what ECU code is P30, P28 etc... I know that this ECU is a 1995 OBD1 ECU USDM using red hondata board V2.

I did all the basic tuning for the Closed loop etc... but for the WOT I need the AFR to get it correctly tuned. The Car also cames with Innovate LC-2 Wideband but not connect to the Hondata.

I've started following directions on this forum and on Internet about B6 and D10 pin to act as a input for the WideBand. I've tried but , of course removing the R2 and R3 ( for B6 pin ) and R136 and R138 ( for D10 ) and the problem that I see on the Smanager is a random spike voltage variation.

My second try now was to use the AN7 + GROUND (pushed the ground from the WideBand Gauge ) pin on the hondata itself, configured the AN7 input to Innovate LC-2 WideBand 0-5v and now I still see the voltage spikes, not the spikes are not so random, they appears in the same interval as the correct voltage is show and can be seen on this photo below :

Hondata Version is :

Serial Number: 20726

So, also I have a video ( all in portuguese, as I live in Brazil, but will be able to see the issue occuring in realtime )

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8Jvg67ewtk

This is making me crazy, if someone can give me a hand to let me know how to make the signal stable... I will be glad!

Btw, on the voltimeter on the hondata pin I got no variation in the voltage, it's keep around 2.38v (14.7 )

Thanks in advance for all the help that can me made to assist me!

Log Attached + Map.

Kind Regards!

In this datalog and calibration how did you actually have the wideband connected as you have multiple settings selected in the software.

Thanks for your Reply Sir.

I'm using the AN7 connected to the 0-5 Volts that came from the Innovate MTX-L Yellow wire on this Calibration + Log File.

If you wish to run closed loop, I would recommend that you remove the stock narrowband and input the wideband into D10 and run closed loop form the wideband signal only.

So, let me review with you some points :

1st - Remove / Unplug the cable from the Stock Denso Narrow Band O2 Sensor
2nd - Remove the WideBand Signal from Hondata AN7 Pin and relocate to D10 ELD
3rd - On Parameters set the Close Loop Tap to Close Loop using the WideBand
4th - On Advanced Closed Loop Parameters set the Wide on D10 ( ELD ) option.

With this done, you think that the spikes on the graph will be solved? Coz I already tested on the D10 Pin and the signal had that spikes behavior.

hope to hear from you soon,

Thanks!!!

That is what I would recommend doing.

Perfect, please don't close this topic, on saturday I waill be doing the requested and will record a movie in english this time with the graph.

Another question : About the Innovate Refresh Rate in 1/12th should I reduce the update interval to 1/3 ? Maybe not the refresh rate so fast for hondata Process the signal?

Thanks man!

I'm sorry, but I don't know anything about their refresh rate.

Hi Bro,

Just as update, I've changed from AN7 input to D10 ELD and ground the WideBand on the PIN 24 of ECU.

The graph now is linear , without spikes, but I can't run on Closed Loop - Wideband, otherwise the car just rev giving pops and bangs/misfires.

So, After let the O2 on D14 and the Advanced Closed Loop on D10 the log is perfect.

Check :

I will finish some tests and will post the datalog file here. Do not close this topic as this one can help others.

Thanks!

Hi There,

Came back to finally update this issue, to fix It I did :

12v from Innovate to A25 on the P30 ECU
Ground from Innovate to A26 on the P30 ECU

Closed Loop swapped from Stock NarrowBand to Wideband Closed Loop, Target to 2.45v = 14.7AFR
Advance Closed Loop to D10 ELD and Voltages as the follows : 0.00 = 7.35 / 2.51 = 14.87 / 5.00 = 22.39

Attached 2 Logs ( One is revving the car to check the if the AFR range is now Working on the entire Scale ) the other just a Idle + Ar Con on / Off to compensate AFR ( can be seen on the log 16AFR when I turn the A/C on ).

Thanks for the Support and hope this thread can help others like me.

You can close this thread now.

Best Regards!

It seems like you had not issue when connect it to ELD

Look please on the screenshot. I want to show reference between wideband softwate value and hondata's AFR
Image

i had the same issue when connect my LC2 to D12 (EGR) and forgot to add C42 capacitor.
And when connected to d10 ELD, had not any spikes.

Try to connect your wideband to battery (for testing).

Spunkster, could you say something about my way? Because i made a lot of tests with AFR, and good condition of signal only via D10 ELD, but i don't want use it, because i plan to use narrowband without windeband (close to stock setup).

Spikes in AFR signal via D12 do not have regularities, and drawdowns appear exactly 0.2V (from 2.5 to 2.3V in the AFR voltage), I'm not sure that the 0.1 μF capacitor will cope with this.

And I noticed the following behavior:
jumps up to 0.2v (this is almost 1 AFR) if connected to a Power Source and Power Ground, jumps are much lower (about 0.3 AFR) if connected to a Power Source and Logical Ground

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you want me to comment on. If you don't want to use a wideband then none of this will be relevant.

i mean that when i connect LC-2 to D12, i have spikes as topicstarter. The same issue i have when connect it to D14.
For some reason, I can’t use to configure D10, but when i connect it to D10, i have very clear signal.
Wideband output signal is clear, stoich always 2.5v, but the hondata receives a dirty signal with subsidence of down to 2.3 volts. With what it can be connected? Can any other components influence this except C42?
