Currently I have the AFE Takena intake and the +6 base tune. I'm thinking about adding a cat'ed down & mid pipe. If I do this what if any risks are there for the CVT? And can I still use a base tune or do I need a custom tune? Trying to make a wise decision ;).

It should not have any negative effect on the trans as long as you are not power braking. It might need to be tuned as the flow may be changed by the change in restriction in the exhaust.
