K20/Kpro output question

Hi

Working on a K20/Rover Elise conversion at the moment and as it's the first one we have done we have tried to eradicate all the unnecessary wiring from the loom and some connections we thought seemed to be on peoples diagrams but logically shouldn't be required.

Just a question on the relay outputs from the block E on the Honda ECU (2003 Civic) We are reading battery voltage switched for the fuel pump prime duration on E1 and battery voltage on E7 but these outputs appear not to be able to drive coils on the Lotus side of the electrics. We have the additional engine ground connected and we can access the Kpro.

I'm sure we are missing something but at the moment I can't see what!

Several things.

First, most people see the main relay and fuel pump relay outputs from the ECU as current sources, not current sinks, then connect the outputs to 12V and burn out the ECU output transistors. So the ECU may have been damaged unless it just came out of a running car.

Next sometimes you can't measure the voltages with a multimeter and no load.

I can't remember on the rover elise if the relay coils are designed to go to a current source or current sink. Also don't know if that uses the multi function box like the federal elise.

I'd recommend just re-wiring the relays using standard off the shelf relay connectors and bosch relays.

Ok so I'm little confused here. Are you saying that E1 should not be connect to a relay(as a ground switch) to run a fuel pump?
