I have been hunting the A/F Sensor problem on my RSX/DC5 Base K20A3.

When the ignition is on (engine off), the A/F reads 14.70. When i crank and started the engine, the A/F Reading on the display dropped to 10.70.

I have tried to leave the primary A/F sensor plugged into the exhaust stream, and leave it disconnected from the exhaust and exposed to free air yield the same result. The A/F reading always dropped to 10.70 as soon as I started the engine.

I have changed a brand new sensor but still problem remains.

When I probed multimeter onto A6(+ lead of multimeter) and A16 (- lead of multimeter), the multimeter only reads 0.297 - 0.300v.

I have verified the wiring between A6 & A16 to the A/F Sensor socket are in good condition and has continuity.

Can anyone shed some light please.

I would recommend that you try the ECU on a known working vehicle and see if it reads correctly.

1) What is the norminal voltage between A16 and A16 in a normal operational ECU?

2) If the Primary A/F sensor Heater is not working, will it affect the A/F sensor reading as well?

3) Do I need to plug into an identical vehicle (Base RSX K20A3 with 5 speed manual and PND ECU) or it can be any Type S or Type r (2002-2004) manual with PRB ECU?

I myself is good in electronics and have full access to oscilloscope for electronics troubleshooting and would prefer test the ECU electronically rather than plug into someone's car and do some damage on theirs if my ECU being faulty or incompatible.

The o2 sensor is current driven, so there is no set voltage between the pins. What is the current? Small, so the multimeter is going to upset it.

If the ECU O2 function being the problem, can I use Innovate LC1 and use Analogue 0-5V input to Kpro4 board and run closed loop from there?

Yes you can, but you should still test the ECU on a known good vehicle first to determine if the problem is with the vehicle or the ECU.

For testing the oxygen sensor any 02-04 RSX manual can be used.
