Low mileage

Recently I had South Florida Performance install a stage 2B on my 94 Civic EX. The car now gives me 200 miles from ten gallons, 20mpg!! I am wondering if this is common or should there not be such a dramatic decrease in mileage. When I was using a 12-1 FMU I would get between 250 and 275 from a tank. Now it does not seem to matter if I drive hard or more reserved the mileage is awful. Also the car bogs off the line.

What I am thinking is that somehow they only tuned my car for full throttle running and while cruising around town I am using as much fuel as if I were driving more spiritedly. I say this too because while driving my air fuel ratio meter does not move back and forth as it did. Instead it reads as though I have my foot planted to the floor.

By "reads as if your foot is on the floor" I assume you mean "really rich". :) That would definitely affect your gas mileage...most driving is done at part throttle, yet most shops only tune for full throttle on a dyno.

He said installed so the problem is tuning. running really rich is better than runing really lean but it could oul up plugs easily. I suggest you have it tuned at part throttle.

John in Tampa Florida does dyno servies and some street tuning.
