No data from S300 when plugged in.
Hey guys,so I am having an issue with my S300/Smanager. My car had been down for
a bit and during that time I discovered that the likely cause was the green circuit board
in my P72 had a burn mark in it. I replaced it with a P28, reinstalled the S300v3 and
finally got the car running again (although the idle is hunting) and I have a solid CEL.
So I downloaded Smanager and the driver and connected it to the usb cord in order to
figure out what the CEL code was. I am getting no reading at all from the S300 other than
it recognizes that it is connected and the drivers installed. The "lightening bolt" on the top
bar is not clickable (it's greyed out) and I'm not able to see and real time sensor data when
the car is running nor am I able to datalog.
After going through this I check to see if the usb is plugged in all the way at the ecu and I
notice there is a red led flashing from the port. I searched on here and went through the
trouble shooting process partially. I made sure the "J12" is cut (it's actually missing) and I
have the latest update (that I know of). I stopped before the "create a calibration"
step because I already have a good calibration in the S300 (car ran perfectly on it before
it stopped starting one day). I do not want to erase or otherwise alter the tune.
So what is my next step(s)?
S300v3
serial # 34385
* is it possible to plug the S300 in backwards or does orientation not matter?

Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
Did you find what caused the P28 to short out and burn? This may has damaged the s300 as well.
Hondata
Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
I have yet to find the exact cause. I can only think that the cheap Chinese main relay the previous owner installed is the cause or possibly that I have "non resistor" spark plugs installed. I have to check the plugs and S300 when I get a chance. The S300 didn't have any obvious damage but all I did was directly swap it over from one ecu to the other.
Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
So I pulled the S300 and checked it over and everything seems to be fine except a spot on the underside, opposite the usb port. I'm not sure if there is/was supposed to be a connection there but there looks like it should be.

Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
Post a picture of the damaged ECU as well.
From Help, About, what is the version of software you are using?

Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
I got rid of the damaged ecu as it was useless to me, all I can say is it was burned on the side opposite from
where it plugs into the vehicle harness about dead center. I'm using software version 2.5.6.0

Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
Without knowing what was burned it is difficult to say if it might be related to the s300 not working.
With everything plugged in and the key in the on position what shows up in the lower left hand corner of the screen?
Are you able to download from the s300?

Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
it shows "driver installed" "online"
What about the back of the S300 itself, is there supposed a connection between the two circles in the upper left corner?
if I download wouldn't I lose my current tune? I'm 4 hours from my tuner so that would not be an option for me.

Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
Downloading will not have any effect.
There is nothing that is supposed to be between the 2 circles that hold the usb port down

Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
alright, what exactly would I be downloading?
Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
a copy of your calibration
Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
alright I hate to sound noobish but where would I find a copy of my calibration. My friend is a tuner and did my car, I have seen nothing in S-manager while connected to my S300 that leads me to believe that there is a file of my calibration in there (other than the fact my car starts and idles, even though that is not perfect right now)
Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
Don't worry about your calibration at this point. All I want you to try doing is to go to the online menu and try to download the calibration from the s300. This will have no effect on anything.
Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
The option is available and when clicked a box pops up asking if I want to save changes to the calibration
Re: No data from S300 when plugged in.
Do you have a calibration open when you are trying to do this?
