Need some help understanding the closed loop parameters and how they function. Say I am tuned in open loop so at cruising I am around 13.5-14:1 AFR. When I run in closed loop, it bounces from 13 all the way to 16+, back and forth constantly and I can feel the car lurching slightly due to it getting so lean.
I tried increasing the closed loop rate of change, and all it did was swing even wider, from rich to lean where it would barely run.
Should I try decreasing the minimum and maximum percent change? Is there any way to make it hold a steady AFR and not continually bounce from rich to lean?
I'm debating just running in open loop all the time, despite running .5 AFR richer it is 100x smoother.
Thanks,

Re: Tuning Closed Loop for Cruising
You must tune so that your AF ratio in open loop does not fluctuate, then you should be able to set it to closed loop and it will keep it at the target AF ratio. If you are getting long term trims above a few percent in closed loop then you need to fine tune the fuel tables so that they are close to the target you have set for closed loop.
