Wiring ECB-1 flex fuel to S300 V3

Post by carguy0316 »

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could advise me on how to wire and get the S300 to read flex fuel content using an Innovative motorsports ECB-1 gauge. Right now I have the gauge operating and reading correct. I have it wired to pin D10 at the ECU (obd 1). My ELD on the S300 is showing .86 volts. The 0-5v wire coming off the back of the gauge is showing the same .86 volts. The gauge is showing 8.6% ethanol. However the flex fuel sensor on the "sensors" tab E% is showing 0. What could I be doing wrong here to get no reading on the S300? I do not have a resistor wired in since it is going through the gauge.

What is the serial number on the s300?

38501 I believe. Do you happen to know if this gauge needs to have a resistor wired in ? The information about it says it gives a raw 0-5v output.

You have a version 3 S300, so you should wire the Flex fuel sensor into the AN0 on the s300 board instead of the ECU itself.

Ok I will give that a shot. I just want to clarify that this gauge is all in one. Where the flex fuel sensor is plug and play to the gauge itself. Then it has a 0-5v out put wire I am using. You are saying take that wire as is and put it to AN0? How about the resistor? Do I need that?

If you use the innovate ethanol gauge then you DO NOT need a pull up resistor. I've done it and it works perfect. What you need to do is tap the FLEX FUEL sensor signal going TO the gauge and wire up to the Analog Input 0 on the s300 and it will work as long as you have the latest (WHITE BOARD) S300. Then you will be able to see ethanol content and fuel temp.

I just want to make sure I am following what you are saying. Because right now I have the 0-5v output coming from the ECB-1 going to AN0 and still have no reading in the S300. Are you saying to tap the signal wire before it hits the gauge and run that to the ANO? and just tape off the ECB-1's 0-5v output wire?

You must tap the signal before the gauge.
