Issue with fried KPRO board / non usable ECU

- what vehicle you have:
USDM 2000 Integra Type R
- serial number of your K-Pro:
i do not have my old kpro anymore because i sent hondata a new 2003 rsx type s ecu for a new kpro board
- version of software being used (from Help, About):
it was the most recent download as of Nov. 2016
- ECU part number (starts with 37820) and serial number (the number under the part number):
new ecu is with hondata right now for a kpro installation, it was out of a 2003 rsx type s
- KManager version (not 'the latest'):
it was the most recent download as of Nov. 2016
- the calibration (as an attachment):
i do not have the tune but before my car went down for a head gasket everything was fully functional
- anything about the car which has been modified from stock which may affect the ECU (don't include what sort of rims you have nor stereo etc):
the car's electrical system was switched from the stock b series to a Honda k series engine and transmission. it was a Japanese k20a type r swap and i had the wiring harness to go with it as well. my swap has 5 different engine grounds (one on the valve cover to the chassis, one from the transmission to the chassis, one from the intake manifold to the chassis, and the one hondata recommends for the valve cover stud.
- when and where you got the K-Pro:
my old kpro was purchased and installed by locash racing in 2008? my new kpro is currently being installed by hondata right now
- a specific description of the problem:
i know this sounds like a common sense problem but please excuse my incompetence its been a long year. my car was running perfectly from April 2006 to November 2015. it started having ignition issues in October 2015. nothing ecu or computer related was to blame.
my head gasket was compromised and was causing spark break up in 1 of my cylinders (because of coolant getting on one of the spark plug electrodes). my head was built and my setup was cleaned up with new seal etc etc. fast forward to October 2016.
in my excitement to get my car running again i only plugged in 2 of the 3 ecu plugs (THIS IS STRIKE 1, and it was the ECU plug from the k swap harness that was unplugged). in addition to plugging 2 of the 3 ecu plugs, i forgot to put my grounds back on the engine / chassis (STRIKE 2 & 3).
being the space cadet that i am, I tried cranking the motor several times with no luck. i began scratching my head as to what the issue was. the car would not start and i thought it might be a timing issue. everything mechanically checked out. i go to look at the ecu and it didn't smell right. i see that 1 of the 3 ecu plugs was remaining unplugged (EXPLETIVE). i also noticed that my engine grounds were not reinstalled either (EXPLETIVE x 2).
i called a friend that is knowledgeable about Honda's and he told me to bring him my ecu + kpro. we opened it up and saw that there was in fact a burn on the kpro board / wafer. i realize the stupidity of my mistake.
My question to you guys is (because i dont want to burn my new ecu that will be coming this week), could cranking the engine / trying to start the engine with 2 of the 3 ecu plugs in and not having any engine grounds in place, could those two factors be the reason my old ecu burned out?
i know this sounds like a really stupid post but i am not perfect and hope to learn in the future about my mistakes.
any help is appreciated. thanks again for your time
