2014 US Civic R18 MT-missing features

Post by Leefd1014 »

I am using a flashpro on my US 2014 Civic LX with the R18 engine.

Is there a reason why the "AFM FLOW" parameters are unavailable on the fuel section in the calibration for the 2012-2014 R18?

There are a number of other significant differences in the calibration features between the prior year R18 engine.

I am concerned that Hondata has abandoned this model because of the huge fuss about the newest 10th gen civic.

Could somebody please offer me an explanation for this?

Thanks.

Are you saying it is different than a 2006-2011?

If so, that is just the way it is as they use completely different ECUs and have different code.

Yes, I am saying that the parameters in Hondata are different than the 2006-2011. Hopefully the AFM FLOW table missing is not a bad thing. Seems as if it wouldn't be necessary if the newer code in the ECU calculates the fuel requirement more effectively using the AFM and/or MAP/IAT? A good set of matching injectors with a smooth, linear dynamic flow range now becomes more necessary.

Could you please explain (if possible) in more detail what makes the 2012-2015 Ecu different from the 06-11? I am not content with "it just is". My brain won't let me ignore it.

BTW: This is good info to those who are tuning the 2012-2015 US Model R18 vehicles
When switching to the ACURA RDX 410 cc injectors, I discovered that the only parameters I needed to change on my vehicle were the injector opening times , and injector size on the fuel tab in the calibration. I used the cranking values I saw in one of the Hondata R18 RNA RDX injector calibration files and the car could't start.

The ECU hardware is different. The ECU processor is different. The ECU code is different. The point is that just because something exists for the 06-11 does not mean it will be there for the 12-15.

Gotcha Hondata.

So far, i've been able to do some good tuning with lack of comparison to the previous r18.

Are there any tips or very prounounced differences from the previous r18 that I should be aware of? Are there difficulties in tuning, or limitations in tuning due to the new ECU ?

There is lack of information on the newer r18 platform, and any sort of tips from you guys would be beneficial.
