S300 won't idle after Flash

Post by dogmoo »

Hello everyone,

I recently purchased a built b18a swapped turbo civic running E85. The vehicle is running a s300 V1. When I bought it vehicle start up and drove "normally" However the vehicle is in full time open loop and the AFR's where really rich at cruise. I was not the one who built the car or installed the Hondata but my checks show that everything appears OK. I have opended the case and inspected the Hondata it is a legitimate version and the installation looks to be ok. The first thing I did before uploading was download the current tune that was on the board and save it to my laptop. after that I saved and cleared all of the datalogs. I then moved onto trying to correct the cruise issue. I wanted to experiment with simply turning on closed loop to see if the afr's would correct themselves. I attempted my first and only upload to the ECU and started the engine.

The engine fired then immediately died. After a few attempts with similar results I attempted to reload the original tune to the s300. The problem still persists. If I continue to "blip" the throttle I can keep it alive but it wants to die the second I get off of the gas.

Is it possible the hardware needs to be updated? I have downloaded the current version of Smanager. but the board has not been uploaded to in what I would imagine is a while.

Other that I am a bit in the dark. I haven't made any mechanical changes at all and besides a rich idle and cruise the vehicle ran perfectly before this issue.

Thanks for your help guys!

What is the serial number that is on the s300 board inside the ECU?

From Help, About, what is the version of software you are using?

Please post the downloaded calibration.

The Serial is 2300-4318

I spoke with the Staff at hondata today they were very helpful unfortunately we weren't able to resolve the issue.

I believe I have a fuel issue. once the car fires up if I keep it running it the wide band shows to be dead lean. I've tried compensating with overall fuel trim but even at +50 percent it still doesn't idle and the wide band still reads lean

Go to new calibration, open on e of the basemaps listed there, change injector size if needed and upload and see if it will start. It sounds like your calibration may be corrupt.

So, I wanted to update in hopes new info might help diagnosis. I attempted your test and a base config with the calibrations changed for injector size did not seem to help. This may be due to the vehicle running on E85 though. I spoke with the turner and he sent me over the map he left the car with. that loaded the vehicle runs and idles however now we are runninig into a problem where the vehicle stalls/falls on it's face when tapping the throttle. if you slowly press the gas it will climb revs but the vehicle stalls if trying to move forward.

anythoughts?

heres the tune

Have you checked to make sure that the cam timing is correct and it hasn't jumped a tooth on the timing belt?

it was a tuning issue all along. He fattened it way up and it holds an idle. I have some other issues that I would like to make a post about however it no longer pertains to the issue I currently have so for the sake of clarity I am going to call this one solved thank you for your help.
