Random lean condition after shift to third gear

Hello,
After tuning a buddy's test mule RDX on E85, I have found that right after the shift to third gear on a 1-2-3 run, the commanded injector pulse is much lower than it should be for a second or two, then richens up in an instant; whereas this is not the case in second gear or fourth gear after the shift.
At first I thought it was because the engine made more than 17psi (where the WOT Compensation table stops natively), so I edited the load index on the last column to 20psi (and made the appropriate changes to the values there), and the same issue exists.
We did not run into this on the dyno (doing third gear runs), and only see it on the street after the 2-3 shift.
Any insight on what I'm seeing here?
Thank you.
