Looking for a response from HONDATA representatives only. Thank you!

Will you please confirm (or deny) that you can power up a S300 v3 unit by USB cord alone and upload or download a tune.
If it is true, why wouldn't you market this? Some people might want to upgrade for this feature alone.

Is this feature available on the S300 v2? Or v1 for that matter?
If not, then what is different between the two boards?

The S300 v1 and v2 are not bus powered. ie the s300 is powered from the ECU, not the USB. The s300 v3 is both ECU and USB powered, but you can only upload or download with the ECU powered up.

Thank you for the response. Without anything other than the USB cord I found a work around. I want to point out that all of what I am about to say is based off of using the latest SManager update and S300 v3 firmware.


1.) Plug in USB cable to S300 then to PC.

2.) Verify green light comes on solid (this is how you know it has power).

3.) Start SManager on your computer.

4.) Verify that the red light is blinking by the USB port on S300 board.

5.) Open your tune file you want to load.

6.) Click on "Online -> Information".

7.) Click on "Registered Owner" tab.

8.) Click on "Update S300 with Owner's Details" if this has never been done before.

9.) Click on the "Calibration" tab.

10.) Here you can do what you want - Upload, Download, or Delete the S300.

11.) If you decide to click on "Upload" then watch in amazement while the red light goes from blinking to a solid glow. :)


I verified that it works by loading and downloading tunes and making minute changes. If there is something I missed let me know. Thanks again for your help.

That is only uploaded to storage and not what it is running off of.

Oh, I see. So what is the difference between "storage" and "what it is running off of"? As in why is there storage if it serves no function to the emulation process? So is it essentially just a flash stick or something? For downloading datalogs? What exactly? Thanks for all the insight thus far!

The ECU must be powered and on to upload to it and have it run off that calibration. The storage is just you can upload multiple calibrations and have them with you at all times and re-download them to the laptop.
