Full throttle shift E22 E29 ect. seperate switch

Post by k20a2ej2 »

The more I research, the more i get confused lol. I just need some clarification please.

So i want to use the Full throttle shift and I don't want to use the safety switch as i feel that it takes too much time to get the clutch all the way to the floor. I'm not even sure if I put the clutch to the floor when i shift anyway. My car doesn't have cruise control so I can't use that. BUT, I have a OEM cruise control switch so I'm wanting to put that in and use it. K swapped EG coupe btw.

I guess I am unclear on this 12v=on, GRD=on bit. I wired it, 12v source from switched 12v from the fuse box to black wire and the red wire will be going to a fusible link then to the ecu (which I have not done yet btw). So, when the clutch is out, there is 12v running continuous. With the clutch pushed in, the switch is grounded and no 12v going to ecu. Do I use E29 (GRD=on) or do I have this mixed up? Or is it E22 12v=on and when it gets grounded, perimeters set will activate. Really confusing.

Sorry if it's a dumb question. Don't want to fry anything. Some clarification would be highly appreciated. Thanks

If the input you use is a ground input then you must just ground the input to the ECU. If it is a powered input then it must have 12v to activate it. If you put 12v into a ground input you will damage the ECU.

Thanks, but for some reason I cannot grasp this.

From what i gather, i should not use E29 because there is 12v continuous when the clutch is out. And when it is pushed in it isn't actually grounded, it's just cut to 0v.

So if that is correct, and since my switch works backwards, 12v with clutch out and 0v with clutch in, then use E22 and invert clutch switch input should work?

You can use any switch, its' all in how you wire it and what input you use. All the switch is there to do is interrupt the power or ground it is wired to.

Thanks for the help. Not sure if I had to invert the clutch switch input or not, but i did and it works as it should.

Using an OEM cruise control 2 wire switch from an eg, 12v from the spare switched 12v slot in fuse box wired to black wire, red wire to a fusible link then to E22. Invert clutch switch input box checked.
