Hi everyone,
At the beginnig I'd like to present my ride which is Civic '94 with swaped and turbocharged B18C4. s300 onboard of course.
I'm approaching to start calibration that is why i have some doubts. My question relates to calibration (of both fuel & ignition tables) around VTEC point.
The problem is I don't realy get or at least something works wrong compating to what I expected.
Let me describe first how I understand the thing and then I'll point my doubts. I would appreciate if someone could correct me if I'm wrong or explain some things.
Everything I mention concern S-Manager s300 Hondata ECU:
1. TABLES: There are 2 maps/tables available for each parameter (ignition&fuel) independently for "low&high speed). Low is the cam possition before VTEC point, high is above (right?). I should calibrate both first maps for low speed cam and independently both second maps for high speed cam?
2. PARAMETERS/VTEC: Thisi is where I set the rpm point (with some additional conditions if I want) when the VTEC selenoid engage and change camshaft characteristics (right?)
3. PARAMETERS/Secondary Tables: This is where I define when the tables (fuel & ignition) switch (?) - meaning when the ecu use first table's data and when the secondary tables(?). What it is it for? Isn't it enough that I set my VTEC point?

And now strait to the point...

I set in:
PARAMETERS/VTEC
VTEC - enabled
Lower=Upper=3000rpm
Min throtlte at 30%
Min speed at 0
Min temp at 65 deg C.
PARAMETERS/Secondary Tables
Always enabled
Engine speed 3000-12500 rpm
Engine load at 0-5 bar
Throttle at 0

I expected that whenever I reach 3000rpm the tables (in TABLES view) will switch and the engine will work on secondary tables (even if the engine load is 0) whereas it stays at first maps all the time. How can I calibrate columns 2-5 if I don't get lambda readings for secondary tables?

You only use secondary tables if you are tuning for a completely different type of fuel other than what you normally run on. Most people will never need to use this.

to make it clear for you to understand it goes a little something like this

"the Tables window"
This windows will show you 4 things!
the first being 1(yellow lightning bolt image) at the far left top corner of the tables window.
the second being 2(yellow lightning bolt) these two lighning bolts represent a spark or ignition table.
1 being the low cam, 2 being the VTEC cam lobe.

LEAVE secondary tables alone if you aren't using a different gas like spunkster stated.

the third icon is a 1 with a red stick figure(if you look closely it kind of represents a spray pattern of fuel)
the fourth icon is a 2 also with a red stick man or spray pattern) these two represent the FUEL tables

1(^) is for the low cam fuels and 2(^) is for the VTEC lobe fuels

please don't turn on VTEC @ 3000rpm you will get no performance gains, just because 3000RPM has the minimum amount of oil pressure doesn't mean it will make more power.
go into the VTEC table under the PARAMETERS window and change these settings to lower boundary 5500 upper boundary 5500 and use whatever manifold pressure you want with a minimum throttle of about 40-60% you chose the exact # you want.

and lastly go under secondary table switching and disable it.

But one question more.

"forevertrj" you have mentioned to set my VTEC point at 5500 rpm. I understand the VTEC point should finally land somewhere around 5500 rpm but during the calibration process shouldn't I set it at 3000 rpm first and calibrate high cam tables?

When reading the help file it states that oil pressure of your engine at 3000 rpm is enough to enable VTEC as a minimum pressure so I wouldn't advise using 3000rpm as the minimum for your base tuning, set the throttle position for vtec around 1% and then both activation points at 4000 rpm if your crossover will take place around 5500rpm for giving the ecu ample time to know what is about to take place with the fuel well before VTEC is actually engaged, also you can tune columns 1-6 for vtec but personally I find I'm only in VTEC in a wide open throttle run and that I have to engage it later with a lesser amount of throttle, and you don't really want to activate VTEC too late as well I would say 6800-7000 as a maximum for late engagement, just keep reading and using that Google search and you'll find the perfect answer that fits for you and your application, also its tricky to understand the manifold pressures on that page because it doesn't follow any rules you have set in your settings aka for inches it doesn't display a negative number if you have your fuel tables set to relative to atmospheric pressure, but basically the lower engagement point I usually set to around 2 inches and the upper engagement I set to around 7 or 10 inches, basically the lower the rpm for engagement the more you want the throttle plate open and the higher the rpm engagement the less throttle plate you will need to be open before the benefits of VTEC are felt, and when your done a 50%throttle position minimum is what I use
