Kpro4 & AEM failsafe on s2000

Post by ninetysixyenko »

having an issue with kpro analog inputs from the failsafe. i am using channel AN7 to white failsafe for input , and 1 of the AN grounds to Brown failsafe input ground. the gauge ground and other AN ground is on the ground cluster bolt by the hood release lever. my issue is firstly, i need a voltage offset, even though the grounds are connected to eachother, secondly, the offset needed keeps needing to be changed. for example, around 11 AFR, i need .33-.34. towards 14 AFR, i need .39-.40. for 16-17AFR i need .45-.46. it acts as though the slope is off. there is not a preset voltage slope for the 30-4900, but i have tried custom slope, and AEM shows the slope is the same as the 30-2310, so i have tried that preset.

i have not tried using analog input for the map yet, and dont plan to. i am just trying to use the uego portion of the failsafe for closed/open loop operation.

I "Fixed" this issue. After spending close to 10 hours total trying to re-ground and rewire everything, nothing worked. What I ended up having to do is change the slope of the input to Kpro. I spent 2 hours datalogging deviations in the reading from the Gauge & Kpro.
What I did was changed my Idle AFR (gauge reading) around quite a few times and multiple times of each to find the deviations. For instance, I set idle AFR to 15.7 and Kpro was reading ~14.6. I then set Idle AFR (using gauge) to 14.7 and Kpro was reading ~13.7. Setting Idle AFR (using gauge) to 13.7 gave a kpro reading of ~12.8. Idle AFR (gauge) of 12.7 would give me a reading of ~11.9. Idle AFR (gauge) of 11.7, Kpro would read ~11.0. finally an Idle AFR (gauge) of 10.7 would give a reading of 10.1 on Kpro. I did this multiple times to verify. Then using some graph paper I plotted AEM's Volt/Lambda. then I converted all my numbers to Lambda, and plotted them on AEM's linear line. I then shifted my plots to the right Horizontally, to where they would line up with AEM's plots vertically. I will try to get a picture of my graph, you will be able to see the difference in the slope. What I ended up getting for values were (0.5V = .58L) & (4.5V = 1.36L). For reference, AEM's slope is (0.5V = .58L) & (4.5V = 1.23L). I have now datalogged for another 2 hours or so using my slope settings, and Kpro matches the gauge dead on.

Why the slope is different, I don't know. it has to be an issue with my failsafe's output "processor" or harness.
