hondata boost controller problem help already blew one engine

Post by mastermnd22 »

I just purchased the hondata branded boost controller. Followed all install directions. Setup k manager to control boost and no matter how it's setup it's not properly controlling boost. I selected the normally open selection. I set the duty cycle to both the max and min values and while testing engine always went to max full boost. My boost cut set at 9.9 could only try and help. I cannot find ANY setup information on the hondata branded Controller only the GM one. I now over boosted and thrown a rod trying to dial in this controller. I can include screen shots. Setup pictures. Whatever information requested to resolve this problem before I install another motor.

The solenoid we sell is normally closed. When setting up boost control you need to use a fixed duty cycle to create a table of boost vs. duty cycle then use that table to set up the boost by gear tables.

When I received the controller first thing I did was blow through it with low pressure air from my mouth. Air flowed freely across the controller from the "inlet" to the lower port on the controller. Directly across from the inlet air flowed out with no power provided to the unit (from Port IN to port B). I was under the impression these were setup that incase of failure it would directly link the psi from the turbo to the bottom of the waste diaphragm? This would allow the waste gate to operate from spring pressure. Would this not make it normally open? And where is this information listed? I got a paper diagram slowing how to install pressure hoses. When I look in the help section all I find is information about the gm solenoid. I understand how pressure relates to the duty cycle on the solenoid. Just without knowing what frequency to operate and how the valve is configured I'm fighting a losing battle.

Simple diagram...

Find a competent tuner to help you.

On that diagram please show me where it attaches to the ecu. Does it get installed to switched 12v and B21? Or grounded and B21?

And what frequency should the hondata solenoid use?

Finding a tuner won't help me learn from the mistake I've made.

Finding a competent tuner will help you avoid another costly error.

Have you not read the KPro manual? It covers everything you're asking questions about: http://hondata.com/help/kmanager/boostc ... lation.htm

The information in that help section covers the gm solenoid. It lacks data regarding the hondata branded solenoid.

However I believe that I have correctly installed and wired the hondata solenoid based on the information in that help section.

These are the questions I have remaing.

Is the hondata solenoid normally closed when current is not applied? Meaning that when closed (no power) it directly connects port B and the IN?
Is the frequency the same for both the gm and hondata solenoid?
