Hey guys, so I'm in quite a predicament and was wondering if I could have some input or feedback.
I'm running an 1997 Integra with a built motor (All motor, no boost). The car is Un-Tuned.
It's unfortunately running a p72 A02 (Integra GSR Ecu) which is an obd2, so shops aren't going to tune it.
I know there's a few alternatives to getting around this such as an obd2 to obd1 conversion, but I have another one that my friend thought of, just wanted to get some opinions on it before I go and test it out.
Rather than converting it to obd1, was thinking about installing an Integra Type R ECU.
Now, I'm running Type R pistons and Type R cams, a b16A 81mm bore and honed block with a B18C1 head.
The rationale for this is the compression numbers are almost the same, and my internals are so close to OEM Type R.
This would be an example of the ECU I would be running:

Since It's a 96-98 Type R Ecu (obd2), it should be compatible with my 97 Integra (obd2).
It should be plug and play... (Hopefully).
Any thoughts / suggestions?

Re: [HELP PLEASE]
Interesting thought. Sounds like it would be fairly compatible, with a built in knock sensor to keep an eye on things. Your EVAP PSP solenoid may need to be swapped to an 99+ design, due to reverse polarity, to prevent a stalling issue- maby.
It might be easier to pass smog with a ODB2 ecu....
This was an older post, have you bought one yet?
