Ignition Control by gear

Post by ran »

Hi Hondata,

I noticed that Flashpro has ignition compensation control by gearing which is wonderful.
As RPM increases, ignition need to be increase provided that the load is light.
Heavy load however needs a lower ignition timing.
( Do correct me if i am wrong :) )

We tune a car on Dyno typically at 4th gear normally on a constant load ( dyno ).
With that ignition obtained after tune, i will increase the overall igntion timing in 1st,2nd and third by Flashpro gearing igntion compensation function.
Reason being that load at the 1st, 2nd 3rd are lower and thus able to advance.
However a car tune at 4th gear does not mean that it will not ping at 6th gear because load is different.
What i do is i retard the overall timing at 6th gear using the flashpro gearing ignition compensation function.

Is this the reason for hondata to create this Flashpro gearing compensation function?
or am i doing all wrong?

These are tables that are already in the ECU, we have just allowed the user to be able to edit them. In most cases the defaut settings should work very well.
