b18a1 Fully built 1990 teggy help

Post by TurboTeggy »

also the batt was dead for about a year would that in any way have reset the tune off the ecu? if so that would mean i would have to reupload the tune but should the s300 have basically a main HDD which saves the base map tune on it thanks

hey new here got a quick question i got a

B18 A1 - stock block , sleeved
wiesco 8:1 low comp pistons
eagle H beam rods
All new bearings and gaskets throughout the engine
decked block and head
head fully machined with all Crower valve train and cams and ARP studs
RC 800cc injectors , walbro 255 , AEM pressure regulator and fuel rail
Peakboost Turbo Kit
with Garrett 3' turbo and 53mm BOV
Rull Race Traction bar set up
skunk2 intake manifold and skunk2 72mm throttle body
full custom 3" exhaust with apexi muffler
inovate wideband with egt and boost pillar guages
Fluidyne dual core rad and slimline fan
Taylor Battery relocation kit with positive battery shut off
Hondate S300 with all upgrades , data logging , rev limitier ect ..
ATC 4 puck stage 2 clutch and lightned fidanza flywheel

now i purchased the car with it not running the car was tuned and done at speedtech with a person that is no longer working there but the car would no start as i tried a lot of thing unless i put starting fluid in it , then i new right away it was a tuning issue i went and downloaded the s300 software and got right on it the thing is that it had a tune on it but now it acting up strangely the car finally started when i opened up s300 software and i started looking at it and started the car , now im stuck with why it would be acting strange as it turns on runs smooth and shuts off im trying to keep it running to fix an overheating problem before i got and get it dynode and tuned once again but im ineed of help to keep it running on the tune currently on it so i can stop the overheating and get it ready thanks ,

what the original owner had to say
So initially set up and ran the car naturally aspirated to break in engine , then turned up the boost to 5lbs and ran it for another 1000km , then turned it up to 10lbs and ran it for another 1000km or so .. Car was built to run consistantly at 12lbs making aprox 300hp but could be tuned to run upwards of 20lbs easily .
Car currently is having overheating issues I have installed both a puller and pusher fan , bypassed the heater core and removed all air bubbles , added water wetter with low temp thermo and fan switch but when I run it in boost it still seems to be heating up which at this point I can only attribute to tuning issue , if you are confident and know how i have the Hondata and inovate tuning software that allows you to do it all yourself but i just never knew enough to do it myself. I would book it back on the dyno but I just don't have the time or desire to continue the project .

Remove your thermostat, grab the upper radiator hose as hard as you can and rev your motor you should feel the radiator hose expand everytime you rev your motor. If not then you need a new water pump. Second thing is, are you sure you have RC 800 cc injectors. And you need to post your calibration for me to see whats going on. Do you have a wideband?

in the parameters window go to protection and see if there is a lean protection on there... What is your wideband saying when you start up the car for the 10 secs it is alive??? if your wideband is not working due to the heater warming up do this...

1) find the red wire from the wideband and run it straight to the battery... I know this is not the best thing to do but it will allow you to datalog the starting event...
2) turn the key to the on position but car off.
3) Get the laptop up and going
4) start datalogging
5) wait for about 5 secs, then start car...

Make sure the wideband has got threw its warm up cycle before starting the car... this will allow you to datalog whats going on when your car is running for the 10 secs it stays running... then post it up...
