So the actual Hondata blue box then, where does that get fitted? Does the tuner use that to edit the settings on the chip in the ECU, rather than taking the chip out and putting fixed settings on? Any explanations would be good!

Blue box? Basic question!
I'll be getting my Hondata S200 tuned hopefully in a few weeks. In the meantime someone has written a chip to put in my ECU with base boost settings on, so I can drive to the tuner.

To my knowledge the blue box is used for datalogging, decrypting the hondata binary code that's programmed on the eprom, and adjusting vtec/rev limits. Of course there are other things that get mounted to it also.
The programming of the eprom will be done with the romulator which mounts on top of the eprom while it sits socketed to your ecu.
You can mount your box anywhere you like but is recommended you use a spot where you can still access the serial port.
Hope this helps.
