Basic Hondata NOobie Fundamentals(How Things Work)

First off ive been reading about hondata etc. for a long time and read lots of stuff on boards but im still confused on how exactly the system works. Im on a small island and there is no tuners but theres a shop that is willing to tune for me but ill provide everything.
From what I understand ill need the following:S200b, Emulator, Pocket Programmer, DataLogging, RomEditor, Chips, Laptop and of course the dyno and uego.
So can someone explain the procedure that its done. From my understanding you would use the rom editor and enter changes , then download it to the emulator. Make a pass, datalog it and repeat, then when its got a good map etc. you use the pocket programmer and the file to burn a chip, then you have to put the chip into the ecu. Correct me if im wrong.

You are 90% correct. The emulator can be used to make real time changes (you do not download anything to it).

First of all you tune the car with the emulator and UEGO on the street and you get a decent map since dyno time is expensive. THen you go to the dyno to fine tune your full throttle maps. When you finish, you disconnect the emulator and burn a chip.

If you are referring to an AEM UEGO then it will not work with the Hondata system. It operates in voltages that are out of the range that a Honda ecu can read.

yes I was refering to the aem gauge type uego, im sure you can use it but not datalog with it?

Can you use a weapon r fuel regulator, I know its supposed to be 1:1 but I dont know if this one is. Basically with this regulator is you set the idle, and at wot it goes to whatever you set it too.

If I use a ps28 socketed and dont use my gsr p72, what happens with the knock sensor. Do I just disable it, what does the knock sensor do.

The P28 doesn't look for a knock sensor, so the knock sensor is unused and no MIL/CEL will be produced.

Datalogging the AFR's is a nice feature, and you should take advantage of it.

The real-time emulator allows you to type in the changes, so you should avoid typing numbers into the cells that you're currently operating in to keep from upsetting the car. I've done it before and it totally screwed up my tables and I had to reload the previously saved file.

You can run with the emulator w/o the laptop by uploading the file to the emulator but only temporarily b/c it only retains the image for so long.

I just got the complete hondata system today, its too bad they dont provide a detailed instructions manual but make me waste my whole ribbon to print it. Does the blue box stay hooked up all the time or only when you do the tuning? Also whats the red button for?

The modified ECU will not function without the blue box. The red button is for setting rev limits and such if you desire to change them and do not have Honda Logger.

So everytime you want to modify changes you need to kill the engine and then enter the changes. When you restart the car wont the surge in power wipe out the changes that you just entered into the emulator?

You say to not change the cell the car is operating in, do you mean when I want to enter changes I kill the engine enter the changes(does it automatically download to emulator, or is cntrl e for that?) then start the car back up again.
Also from what I understand with the new emulator, you dont need the pocket programmer hooked up to emulate. The laptop would be hooked up to the datalog cable and to the emulator, then the emulator to the ecu. After done tuning you save the rom, disconnect the emulator and plug the pocket programmer in and burn. Cause the diagram on the instructions show the old emulator.
Also does the aem uego GAuge work with hondata?

The AEM uego will not work with the Hondata, as it operates outside of the voltage ranges the ecu is capable of seeing.

then will the posted voltage splitter work with the gauge type uego, cause on honda tech some guys say it will work with the gauge and not with the old one, and some say it will not work with neither. I know about the voltage but dont know if the gauge voltage is lower then the older model.

Save yourself a lot of time and hassle and just get a PLX wideband. YOu can even get a gauge just lik ethe AEM, and we know it works with the Hondata without any hassles.

Save time?? I already got the gauge so that eliminates buying something else, its all hassles for here on out. Help me set it up
