what does Launch soft do?

Will it increase EGT or have any harmful effects?

From the help file:

Soft Limiter

The soft limiter uses a progressive cylinder cut method to reduce engine power when near the launch limiter.

It is recommended to set the soft limit activation 50-200 rpm below the launch limit, and set the slider to about 75%


It is no more harmful than other rev limits.

what is the purpose of the soft limiter?

it creates a more stable rev limit (less fluctuating)
