Is it dangerous 'playing' with cam timing?
Is it dangerous 'playing' with cam timing?
On a stock RSX-S motor, is there any chance of valve-to-valve or valve-to-piston contact due to cam timing settings (considering an 8600rpm rev limit)? With DC5 R cams? More aggressive cams and/or milled head?
The intake VTC has a physical stop at 50 degrees. You are safe with stock cams, type r cams or Toda N2 cams at 50 degrees. If you use other cams then you need to mock up the valvetrain, lock VTEC, use an indexed VTC and determine the maximum cam advance, then use a pin to limit maximum VTC advance. Valve to piston is fairly safe from the factory so a milled head is probably not going to be a problem (BTW I think milling the head is a step backwards - if you want compression then do it properly with the piston).
