i'm interested in upgrading to the K-PRO from my current reflash#4 setup. a friend of mine wants to purchase my #4 ECU since i won't be needing it anymore buy i told him i need it in order to get the exhisting hondata customer fee for the K-PRO.
is there a way that i can work with a hondata dealer so that my friend can buy my #4 ECU then give me his stock ECU so i can send that in to get the K-PRO.. with the exhisting hondata reflash fee of $500?
thanks in advance

is it because the hondata dealer needs the #4 ecu in order to validate that the current hondata user is eligible for the K-PRO upgrade fee?
or is it because Hondata is opposed to the distribution of reflashed ecu's outstide of their retail dealers?

Basically what you are trying to do is get a K-Pro for free. You can only upgrade your ecu with the #4 program to the K-Pro.

i'm not getting it for free, i'm still going to pay the Hondata dealer the upgrade fee =)
question: does Hondata or the Hondata dealer keep records of some sort to keep track of which people have reflashed their ECU's?

You own a K-series Reflash that's $595
You want to upgrade to a K-Pro that's $500
So your paying $1095 for a K-Pro
For a brand new K-pro it costs $995
So if Hondata let you keep your Reflash you would be basicly paying $95 for it and they would be giving away $500

how would they be giving away $500?
i originally paid $595 for the #4 reflash to x_dealer.
now i want to move up to the K-PRO so all i have to do now is fork over the extra $500. it shouldn't matter to the x_dealer how i aquire this money what matters is that i'm already am an exhisting hondata reflash customer and they are justifiably being paid for the upgrade. this appears to be a legitimate transaction to me.
unless there is an exception that prohibits me from qualifying for the K-PRO upgrade that hasn't been made clear.
thanks

The $500 upgrade is by ECU. If you sell your ECU, then the buyer qualifies for the discounted KPro price, not you.
Otherwise you'd be paying $1095 for $1590 worth of goods - and you realize that full well.
