Error code 17 VSS

Post by ga's ek9 »

Hi. I was wandering if anyone could help me. I've just completed a high compression b18c. Im using a hondata s300 and since fitting s300 I keep getting Error code 17 - vehicle speed sensor fault and vtec wasnt engaging. After turning engine off and back on the light goes out, for a little while. I plugged s300 into laptop and noticed the vehicle speed wasn't coming up on the Smanager so I changed the vtec minimum speed to 0mph and vtec worked but still kept throwing the VSS code. The instrument panel speedo still works. Its is a 2000 jdm ek9 (obd2b) and hondata s300 pre-socketed obd2b ecu. The vehicle has been fitted with km/h to mph converter by previous owner. Is it the case that I need to remove the converter for the S300 to recognise the vehicle speed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

YOu need to determine where in the wiring the fault is that is not allowing the ECU to get a VSS signal.

Ok thanks. Im getting signal to the cluster as the speedo is working. I wasnt getting the code with old pct ecu so does that mean the converter is sending the wrong signal for s300? Thanks again
