Hey just thought i would add this info in here. I believe we may be having the same issue. For a demonstration i took a screencast from my laptop of everything and posted it to youtube.

read the details for info on my computer and software
Hope this can help some and we can get some kind of answer!

Don't run SManager in XP compatability mode or as administrator.

When downloading first close all windows in SManager.

The errors happen when ran normally (win7 just opening the program from the desktop) as well. I just had read through the forums that for the best chance, it was best to run in compatibility for winXP and as admin. I was just trying to show that the errors occurs even with (as I had read) what was the best chance for it working. Thanks for the reply. Hopefully we can figure it out. I will note I noticed a couple things with the calibration settings. Under properties for the calibrations (not in smanger) under general tab/ attributes there was a notice "this file seems to have come from a different computer. Would you like to make available for this computer". I wonder if this has caused the reading issues if the tune on the ecu also has this restriction. Will try uploading the tune again with it "available" for my PC, then will try downloading again.

Second thing I noticed is although I am running sManager 2.1.1.0 on my computer, when I look at the info from the s300, as seen in the video, the software shows version 2.0.0. I figure this is a reference to smanager as it also notes hardware version as 1, and firmware as 1.04. So could there be a miscommunication issue if my ecu thinks its trying to talk to a 2.0.0 version rather than the 2.1.1.0 version?

I was getting this error message also. and if my engine was running and i unplugged the usb cable from my s300 it would kill it, and throw a CEL. also if i tapped on the side of the ECU where the s300 is, with the engine running it would do the same. i think my s300 wasn't seated fully on the pins and was able to slightly move when bumped lightly.
