S300, Stalling shifting out of gear into neutral. Help
Basically what's happening is, when coming to a stop, putting in the clutch and shifting OUT of gear INTO neutral. The car's rpms will drop rapidly and not catch at all. Stalling the car. Starts out strong after sitting, but after a little bit of driving the problem comes back. Also if it does catch it sometimes idle surges/hunts.

Re: S300, Stalling shifting out of gear into neutral. Help
It looks like it is in open loop and running rich. It really should be tuned before driving as it is easy to wash to bores down with fuel and then never get a good ring seal.

Re: S300, Stalling shifting out of gear into neutral. Help
Thanks for the reply. As for the tune. . it was done to switch me to E85 and pass emissions, but also to break in the engine. Its basically a do nothing tune (as you can probably tell by the Boost cut and tables.) It is worrisome that you state its rich though. I wouldn't know for sure as I don't have wide band O2 for it. But I agree, running rich isn't good for breaking in an engine. Is this what you are suggesting is causing the random stalls? I suppose that would explain why it doesn't do it after sitting for a while. But after driving, it starts to wash down everything and starts causing problems right? Should I go ahead and just put my system into closed loop now? I haven't touched it since the tuner gave me the emissions tune.
I appreciate your knowledge. This is stalling is annoying for me to drive it as a daily driver.
If I were to go back and get it tuned, we would be looking for anywhere between 400-500 HP pushing ALOT of boost. .~20-30lbs. (more or less max out the turbo then back down slightly, and see what we get) So we decided I should wait and break in the engine before introducing high boost levels. Do you recommend just going for it? The engine has roughly 400miles on it now. My tuner wanted 500-600miles just to be safe.

You would be better off tuning it properly than running it on something unknown that could be too rich or too lean.

HELP. . . . .
OK so today i went to put it in closed loop as suggested. I uploaded to the ecu, only changing the run closed loop function. I then went to go for a drive to immediately find out that it wouldnt rev past 2500 (rev limiter, acted like fuel only. Also no CEL). So I drove around the block and parked again. Shut everything off. Got my computer again. Plugged it in. Turned the ignition on. Smanager registers and suggests to go online f10 message. I do and INSTANTLY it bluescreens my computer. Im thinking drivers, so i delete the drivers and smanager (i have copy of current tune backed up) and then reinstalled each from your website. Now as soon as my computer registers the ecu it bluescreens again! Computer is fine other than when ecu registers in the usb. have tried each of my usb ports and all have same result. Ecu Lights up Green like its ok. and Windows registers its plugged in. What do i do now? Cant drive anywhere at 2500rpm (live off a highway that is 65mph). Dont have access to another portable laptop either. HELP! Cant get it to stay long enough to upload the tune again for open loop.

Re: S300, Stalling shifting out of gear into neutral. Help
Update: So I managed to get my ecu to take the backed up tune again, and left it in open loop and its running like it was again. . practically normal. I'm not chancing putting it back into closed loop for now. I will wait till Monday when i get it tuned. I had to go into device manager and force uninstall the ecu hardware under USB devices. Then after turning on ignition with the computer already plugged in. It found the device and tried to automatically install but did not find the drivers (finds the new hardware as EgisTec_ES603). I then loaded the drivers through the smanger program folder and it somewhat took (still shows and exlaimation mark on the device). Smanager opened normally and in the bottom left corner it shows drivers installed. Under the s300 tab, it shows all info and everything checks green.

I will note i get a continuous spam of the same error message if i try to download FROM the ecu. Wondering if somehow my s300 got registered to the computer at my tuner's place. And so i cant access it without passcode or something.

Tried reinstall drivers and stuff, still happens.
Now running windows XP. Works like a charm.

Re: S300, Stalling shifting out of gear into neutral. Help
Windows 7 64bit here as well. After my tune on wednesday (bumped back cause my tuner had to fly out to hawaii for an issue with one of their cars they race. . lol) i will then try running in compatability mode for windows xp and see how it does. I hear that should help solve some of the glitches. But im not touching my ecu till i get it tuned and have the PROS look at it. Cause i dont want to mess up my car again and not be able to drive it down. . lol. Thanks for the reply's you guys.

Re: S300, Stalling shifting out of gear into neutral. Help
So went to get tuned today. First off i have a question for any hondata rep. They right off the bat told me that that RC750cc injectors are too small because we are up above 5k feet here in CO. That my goal of 450-500 is not even close to achievable. That more than likely i will get 15lbs of boost and produce 350hp on E85. I realize that E85 is roughly 30% more fuel comparatively to gas and that the higher altitude will effect power production due to lower oxygen, however, i nearly quadrupelled my injector size, bumped up the fuel pressure, added new more agressive cams. Am I really only to expect 150 more horsepower than what i was tuned at before the engine build? It just doesnt make sense to me. Everywhere i look, ask, and even use online calculations. . . i should be able to produce 430-450hp and possibly push to 500. . but thats really pushing it and i know that. I can provide screenshots of ALL calculation tools and estimates if it helps. Just let me know.WaZe_One87 wrote: About Engine:

Second question is. . . can i use the Boost by gear solenoid as a simple electronic boost controller for the time being? I dont have the money to spend $700 for a boost by gear tune if they dont think i will make more than 400, and then turn around and pay for another one once i upgrade fuel injectors (if you feel i need to) They suggested to get a boost controller so i can at the very least max out the 750cc injectors and not rely on a wastegate spring too much. I agree. . but thats $80 just to turn around and get the solenoid later.
would be nice if it could be used as a simple open/closed electronic boost controller aside from boost by gear.
Tomorrow i will be going back as they are going to finish the tune. Had a mishap with one of the coolant housings and had to source a part fast. And so tuning will be tomorrow with the boost controller if i dont hear back soon enough to say just give me the solenoid.
Many thanks for any quick answers. They open at 9 Mountain Standard Time so i have roughly by then to change my order.

Re: S300, Stalling shifting out of gear into neutral. Help
well im looking for a new tuner. . . my car is now tuned on E85, off the wastegate spring at 5psi making 186hp. . . Last night I read that i could infact use the hondata solenoid as an above standard electronic boost controller by simply running it in a fixed duty cycle and tuning it to meet my psi requirements. . . i called them and changed the order to purchase the solenoid with install for $150. Ten minutes later they called back with a quote of $300 to do the same install! and say they never offered that price to me. This after their boost by gear tune cost went from $500 to $700 yesterday. I took my car as is without ANY boost controller (hence the tune on just the spring. they refused to try any of the other springs i brought either as it was a hassle) And as we were leaving virtually empty handed (i mean this tune is 20hp less than my original tune, with upgraded cams and everything. Though E85 so maybe its near exact), i asked if he put it in closed loop since i had issues doing it on my laptop. He seemed put back that i would ask such a thing, preceded to tell me the function of closed loop (already knew its the ecu controlling fuel for optimum economyVSpower), and that he PURPOSEFULLY leaves it in OPEN LOOP with the O2 HEATER OFF!
Im done with this place and im pretty sure that they are a LICENSED HONDATA INSTALLER. So if you would like to hear more then message me and i will tell you specifics. Its too bad because they had my trust till today. . . now i dont think i will ever be going back there.
Im posting the tune here. . people can use it as a basemap turbo b16 RC750cc injectors e85 5psi tune. Runs pretty good but nowhere near what i thought i would be getting. Pretty sad actually. . build up my engine then settle for a $300 BASEMAP because i felt like i was getting (did get) taken.
