1995 del Sol dohc Knock Sensor

Post by jlkrohmer »

Project has taken a long time (7 years). B20 Dart normally aspirated, 11:1, high rpm valvetrain, ported polished, oversize valves, etc. Hondata S300V1. Stock and Lambda Oxygen.

My question: My knock sensor does not work and has to be disabled in the S300. I have replaced the sensor twice and have checked out the wiring back to the ecu. I tried putting the stock ecu back in and there is no knock sensor error. Is there a ad on board or modification to the S300 unit that would enable the knocksensor? I bought the complete ecu from Alamo Autosports in Arlington TX and they no longer are listed as a Hondata Dealer. The engine now has about 10000 miles on it and runs well but I want the knock sensor protection.

I have had the exact same experience. Two new knock sensors from the Honda dealer (p/n 30530-PV1-A01) and I get a knock sensor error code within seconds of start-up at idle with the S300'ed ECU, but no light ever with a stock ECU.

S300 is in a P28
Stock ECU is a P30

A P28 does not have knock control. Only a ECU with knock control capability can use knock control: http://www.hondata.com/ecus.html

Thanks, that makes sense.

Could have saved myself two knock sensors...
