Does IAT compensation really work?

Post by InsightRacer »

Now that it's starting to get hot (here in the eastern US) I have been playing with the IAT Temperature Compensation feature. After a few days of trial and error, I'm not convinced it actually works.

Today I did a test - driving to work (about a 1 hour drive in varied traffic). The L.Trim and S.Trim averages with the stock IAT Temperature Compensation profile were only different from my tuned version by about -1% - basically insignificant. However, my tuned version in the relevant temperature ranges were -9% to -12% lower than the stock configuration.

Maybe it is my methodology. What I am doing is using the X Y Graph to plot IAT vs L.Trim and S.Trim and looking at the sums of the averages at the temperature points in the IAT Compensation table. But its not responding to changes.

Any ideas?

IAT compensation is only used with speed/density fuel tables. When using the AFM there is not need for IAT compensation (since the AFM does this for you).
