Im helping in the creation of a mpg civic for a buddy of mine. He's purchased a 95 dx for fairly cheap and wants to put a few more bucks in it to reach 50+mpgs. Now were considering motors and the vtec-e and jdm d15b with the 3 stage vtec has come up. My question is can I use one of the many outputs on hondata to control the second solenoid on the three stage vtec. I was thinking a nitrous output would work great but have never tried anything like that. I have run the nitrous control on my personal vehicle with great success. I actually have a z6 turbo with s300 controlling everything and i also ran nitrous with the turbo for a few months and never had a problem. Any suggestions or tricks (beyond the obvious) on getting better fuel milage would b greatly appreciated. Mainly though i was wondering about that second solenoid. Im guessing the secondary tables may also come into play too. Or should i just opt for the proper ecu weather we choose the vtec e or the three stage. I assume the vtec e butterflys could b controlled the same way a h22 would, correct?

There is no way to properly control 3 stage VTEC unless you just use the stock ECU meant for that engine. Trying to use nitrous controls or secondary tables is sort of a hack way of doing it and will still not yield the control you want.
