Hi Guys,
I have two questions regarding the calibration process. I read a lot of calibration tips at Hondata Web and I know it is critical to tune the engine without a boost first.
My installation: stock B18C4, turbo with external WG, exhaust with a wideband lambda inside, and what is the most important: the dump pipe from the WG into the atmosphere, and the Hondata s300 on board of course.
So here are 3 questions:
1. In order to have no boost at all I dismounted the WG of the exhaust manifold and I took the "Wastegate valve seat" out. I expect the leakage whould allow me to run without the boost.
Is it a good way to do at all?
2. Even if yes: Due to the fact that the dump pipe goes into atmosphere (and some of the exhaust goes out)...wouldn't it cause my lambda reads faulty during the calibration?
3. If all the ideas above are bad... how shell i proceed with my setup to calibrate it properly?
How to tune without the boost properly?
Re: How to tune without the boost properly?
If you cannot run without boost, then you will need to just tune it as it is. It is not a requirement to tune without bosst, it just makes it a little easier.
Re: How to tune without the boost properly?
Hondata is a Good system. You don't have to do anything's. Just tune it like that.

Re: How to tune without the boost properly?
Disabling the waste gate is the best way to prevent boost (I always just took the spring out). Removing the blow off valve is dangerous as it will over speed the turbo.

Ok. I'll skip tuning without a boost. I'll proceed directly to the boost cal.
Thanks guys.
P.S. Just theoretically: If I would do the way Hondata writes... wouldn't it affect/cheat an AFR reading? (my dump pipe goes directly into atmosphere).
