I've recently discovered that in every honda "ingniter" or "ignition modual" inside the distibutor has a preset ignition map built in. These maps are different from year, make, and model. My question is does this change the overall effect of ignition timing per tune per igniter. For example, will a high speed ignition tune through Hondata with a OBD1 non VTEC distributor result in different timing results at the crank than OBD1 VTEC distributor? Or is the ignitor timing only come into effect durring "limp mode"?
Thanks in advance to any Honda heads out there-
High speed ignition maps with stock distributor
Re: High speed ignition maps with stock distributor
The ignitor has no maps in it. All ignition timing is controlled by the ECU, even when in limp mode. What you are refering to is probably the phasing of the key on the shaft of the distributor. You need to use the correct distributor for your engine.

Thanks for clearing that up, that makes alot of sense. Heard that "rumor" from a Honda Master Tech. I will open his mind to that truth. Thanks for the quick reply.
