H22a ECU Question

Post by Pneuma »

Alright well I had an H22a swap done on a 95 Accord LX and it came with the whole package. The problem is my ECU is redlining at 7000 or a little below and I want it to redline at 82-8500 now what ECU would I need to accomplish that task? And is there any extreme risk involved in doing that?

H22a ECU Question

Post by h22vtec »

You probably have a P0A ecu currently from what I can recollect which is an accord ex ecu but still should be the same for lx. You need a P13 ecu in order for you to have the proper redline. That is a prelude ecu. I had a P06 which was out of my civic dx that I had a tune shop chip to a P13. Your ecu will look like a prelude ecu but needs a chip added to it, in order to make it prelude. See if you can have that done, otherwise you are going to have to find a P13 ecu. They sell on ebay for an average cost of 200 dollars and you can even get a skunk2 chipped P13 ecu which cuts out certain sensors and lowers vtec engagement and raises red line all the way to 9600 and eliminates speed governing for around the same price. You should be ok in doing either or because you are still OBD I no matter what you do. Good luck.

do u have a reason why u want to rev up to 8200-8500? if not, don't do it, the h22a doesn't make any more power up there especially on a stock head

I have never seen a dyno graph (including my own) where an H22 made any more power after 7500 RPM. All you are doing is beating the crap out of it.

One might argue that even though the power levels out at 7500 it is still ?more? continuous power than you would have if you shifted and started again at 6000 rpm? but tell that to the components that are being stressed beyond necessity.

P.S. My engine is fully built, fully ported by ENDYN, etc. If mine doesn?t make any more power up there than I doubt yours will either

Here is a good representation of what a turboed H22 with stock bottom end can handle rev/power wise.

If you have different cams, and your bottom end is built to handle it, you could rev higher... Its just the fact that stack cams only make power to 7.5k ... correct me if im wrong...
