Can I use any K type temp sensor? It is my understanding that the K type sensors all use 0-5v analog output. Is this correct? These are the units I have been looking at:

I read the Hondata instructions regarding the inputs to use and how to do that, I just want to see if I can wire the sensor straight into the ecu, or if a controller (such as the PLX or AEM) is really necessary. The goal is to datalog this in Hondata and view it on a Tunerview II.

no, you can't use those.

K-Type sensor work through an effect which is called "seebeck-effect". this is some strange behavior, which occurs, when 2 different metals are welded together and are heaten up.

then a voltage will be there. this voltage is so small, that it needs to be amplified. for this there are special amplifiers.

PLX has some devices, cost about 100$ and those can use k-type sensors and give a great 0-5V output.

look them up. they work pretty good. didn't have any issues with them yet.
