o2 problem...weird. i need hondata help

Post by sidriverep3 »

Ok. K24a1 turbo.

I was getting a.f. readings but I knew that they were wrong. It was saying very lean and giving me lots of cuts from protection. I was at 100% duty and blowing black smoke and bogging down from too much fuel, so I knew it wasn't really lean. I was showing no volts and -37mA on the primary but getting a.f readdings that seemed right...just not reliable and not correct. How is that possible?

So I checked my wires and they are all good. Put in known good o2 sensor new from honda and now im throwing codes...no volts...-37mA and NO a.f readings...like a bad o2 sensor. Wires are good. I traced them to the ecu. Sensor is good...works on another ep3. All that's left is kproed ecu or software.

Ill double check the wires to ecu tomorrow for good measure and try another o2 just to be through. Im scared to drive it and need to get this working so I can put in my ID1000's and tune it. Can you tell me something magical that will fix this?...lol.

Ill do a datalog and kal tonight of it idling warm when I get to my computer....but wanted to get your attention because tomorrow morning is the only time I have to work on it and would like some tech support available. Do you have a contact phone number? Maybe have the reading on a multimeter for the harness witht the car running to see if I'm getting the right signals to the sensor? I think I was geting bat voltage to one wire...1.** volts to one...2.** to one and 2.9* to the last. Sound right?

I miss my car and I finally got all my parts in and I can't install anything until I can see my a.f.s.

Ep3 chassis...stock harnesses.

Thanks guys....Adam.

Im still trying to find a k car to try the ecu in...but I did ALL of the wire troubleshooting in the fsm and it always ends at replace ecu.

So im 99% sure the ecu got fried. How can this happen to a stock harnessed ep3 with no real wiring changes and kpro? I have never used anytging but honda o2 sensors. Do you think I got a bad kproed ecu? Ill keep trying to fine a k car to test the kpro in.

The problem started with no volts and -37mA WITH an a.f. reading...but a wrong one.

Update.

After clearing the security on kpro I gained an a.f. reading. It seems to be an accurate reading based on plug color ect. But still no volts or current from the sensors window.

Do you think I can trust the a.f. reading to tune? I really need my car back online.

Thanks.

Here it is. Will post data log tomorrow after I make one. For some reason my auto save isn't working so I don't have any to upload.

The car runs great. It's been street tuned now, and I know the ignition isn't right and the a/fs are not perfect...but it was an hour of street tuning..and I'm only running 10 psiish. I just don't have time in my life at the moment to hit up the dyno. Maybe in the next few weeks.

I just have the thought in the back of my head that something is still wrong because I'm still not getting o2 volts and current. Please let me know what you think.

BTW...ID1000's are awesome. They are running better and smoother than my RC550s...idle and cruising. I had to call the tech support at T1 and they were absolutely the most knowledgeable people I've ever spoken with. He and I carried a conversation about the hidden algorithms in the ECU that change the dead times based on map. It was really great getting help and advise from someone that knew so much...And me being an aircraft engineer I could not only follow...but give my incite as well. Great guys.
