Euro CTR, cr 11.5:1, knocking issue

Post by LK7R »

- KManager version:
V1.4.1

- what sort of vehicle you have:
Honda Civic TypeR, Euro

- what sort of ECU you are using:
PRA ECU

- anything about the car which has been modified from stock which may affect the ECU:
Skunk2 Stage2 cams
PRC intake manifold
BuddyClub exhaust manifold
Custom 2.5" catback
Denso IK22G sparkplugs
ITG Maxogen air intake
Innovate LC-1 wired to ELD (ELD wire cut)
Grounding kit in engine bay
New OEM knock sensor
Petrol N100 Octan

AF conversion table
1.33 - 7.350
1.96 - 10,358
2.68 - 13,366
3.4 - 16,374
4.12 - 19,382
4.83 - 22.390

- a specific description of the problem
My engine has been rebuilt and I am trying to do basemap before i go to dyno to tune for power.

First I uploaded K20a-itr.kal into ECU (copied table by table in to PRA calibration). I've put the car into open loop to tune AF. My primary lambda sensor is K.O. that is why use secondary is selected.
Once I start moving the car starts knocking as hell - MIL flashes (TPS 6%, A/F 13, IGN ~30). Cas doesn't seems to hessitate or buckle, it runs fine.

Knocking seems to kick in around 2500rpm under very light load and even when decelerating. It can be seen all over the datalog - knock count 189

Could it be ghost knock or valvetrain noise?

Thanks

Dan

Don't copy tables from a PRB calibration into a PRA calibration. Start with a PRA cal and tune from that. You cannot use the secondary O2 to run closed loop in this vehicle. You need to get a new sensor for the primary.

It is from the cams.

Thanks for the Secondary O2 information.

Seems to be. When you say that it is from the cams, you mean that it is real knock or just noise from the Skunk2 cams/valve springs.

Thank you.

It is noise from the cams, not knock.

I have looked into the help file and found this:

Use secondary 02 input for closed loop operation - uses the oxygen sensor connected to the secondary o2 sensor pin as the primary oxygen sensor for closed loop operation (PRA only).

Now I'm confused, so does it work on PRA ECU or not? I have EDM EP3 with PRA ECU, it seems to be working fine once the option is clicked.

cheers

That is used only for the s2000 K-Pro wich uses a PRA calibration to run in closed loop with stock oxygen sensors.
