GM 3 bar MAP sensor

in the SManager, there is no selection for the GM 3bar map sensor, and whenmy car was tuned, my tuner selected the Motec 3bar map sensor in the map sensor selection....Does the GM 3 bar map sensor and the Motec 3 bar map sensor have the same voltages?? Are they the same?? If not, How would that effect my tune? I spoke to another gy with a sim,ilar setup that had the wrong map sensor info, and his ECT's were always showing really hot on the smanager while datalogging, while the stock honda temp guage always showed perfect with absolutely no signs of a high temp at all....I had the same issues this year when I switched to Hondata from ECTune the summer before which had the GM 3bar mep sensor in its selection of map sensors....any ideas???

The motec 3 bar is the same .

exactly the same?? Hondata shoulkd def include the GM 3bar Map sensor in its map sensor selections...

There are three different GM 3 bar MAP sensors which all look the same - which one do you have?
I suggest calibrating the sensor with a vacuum pump and entering the voltages/pressures.

How do you do this exactly? If my GM 3bar map sensor was diff than the motec ne, how could this throw off my ecu readings? would this effect ect readings?

I checked this page out, so is the motec 3bar map sensor equiv to the gm 3bar part # 749 or #861?

My GM 3bar map sensor is part # 12223861, the same one in the picture illustration at the bottom of this page

so the GM 3bar MAP sensor has a scaler of 628 and an offset of 0, and the Motec 3bar MAP sensor has a scaler of 609 and an offset of 2, so am i correct that I need to switch my scaler and offset to the GM settings??? How is this going to effect my current tune?

Changing the scaler will have an impact on youre tune . So unless you are going to retune then id leave things as they are . I have a gm 3bar sensor and the software says its a motec . I tuned the car like this and have had zero issues . The software says im running slightly less boost than i am by around 1psi at approx 24 psi . At lower boost levels its very close to being dead on .

I have a brand new motor being built now at golden eagle, and a head being built at bisimoto enginerring, so i will be using my old calibration and having it retuned this spring, but i just want the map sensor to be bang on....and the scalars and offsets are diff from the GM and the motec from the research i have done...this must be why on my last dyno pull, my ecu was reading 16psi, and the dyno was reading 18psi....

Read our post above - we used to have parameters for one of the three different GM 3 bar MAP sensors, but stopped supplying this information because it was causing too many problems with people buying their own MAP sensors and not knowing which MAP sensor it was.
You'll need to follow the procedure for measuring the voltages at different pressures and calculating the voltage and offset. http://www.hondata.com/help/smanager/ma ... sub=offset

So what you're saying is that I should just go buy a Motec 3bar MAP sensor!! Thanks again, Hondata for making a relatively easy question for a loyal customer, a very over-complicated situation.

No, I've never suggest you should buy a Motec sensor.

As per my first two posts, just measure the voltage for pressure and plug it into the calculation from the link above. eg if the sensor reads 0V at 3.6kPa and 5V at 315 kPa, then the pressure range is 3114 mbar, voltage range 5.0 volts, so the scalar is 3114 / 5.0 = 623, offset = 36 since offset voltage = 0V

Of course, the problem which we found and I pointed out is that your sensor may or may not read 3.6 kPa at 0V and 315 kPa at 5V - there are three different 3 bar sensors which all look the same. That's why it is best to measure the actual voltage and pressure values.

I called Tony Palo of T1 Race Developement, he sells the Motec 3bar Map sensor which he explained to me is really a GM 3bar Map sensor, and his " Motec" ones have the exact same part # as mine does so I guess min just happens to be the right GM 3bar map sensor, so I should be good to go..
