K100 ECU to K-Pro

Post by garz »

hi
i have both a K100 ECU and a Kpro ECU - both based on PRA honda ECU's

the engine is K20A2 (euro spec) with supercharger etc

the K100 ECU is fitted to the car at the moment and mapped for the mods on it.

the Kpro ECU is from a more standard car - so map is not suitable

i want to remove the K100 piggy back PCBA from the ECU in the car at the moment, and transfer the Kpro piggy back PCBA from the new ECU into the ECU that drives the car - hopefully maintaining the original map ( mapped for the car and it mods ) in the car

can i swap the hondata K100/Kpro PCBA's over and i'm good to go ?

Spunkster - thanks very much for the reply

i thought so but wanted to be sure -

have now swapped them over - car runs and drives fine (or at least exactly as before) - but i cannot see the tables / graphs in the map.

get the error message that says "access violation xxxxxx in module Kmanager.exe"

- serial number of your K-Pro = 3861
- KManager version (not 'the latest') = 1.4.1
- the calibration (as an attachment) = cant extract it properly - that's exactly the issue
- a datalog of a problem (as an attachment) - can attach if needed - but have no problem driving - just want to download and inspect map - don't have original Kal outside of ECU
- what sort of vehicle you have = engine is K20A2 Euro spec in a swap - harness, sensors etc is all K20A2
- what sort of ECU you are using = PRA

- anything about the car which has been modified from stock which may affect the ECU (don't include what sort of rims you have nor stereo etc).
= the engine is supercharged running around 8psi - but all sensors are stock so electrically the ECU doesn't see any changes
- a specific description of the problem = as above - can connect to ECU and even datalog - but cannot see the tables / graphs - last attempt the KManager crashed after flashing up the "access Violation..." message about 500times.

Start by downloading the newest beta version of software from our website and try that.

OK - i did the following

uninstalled - Kmanager 1.4.1
uninstalled - antivius software ( just in case )
installed latest beta version 1.4.5
connected to ECU
ECU was recognised
clicked the little yellow flash symbol - got a warning message that the ECU has a calibration made with 1.4.1 - clicked OK
clicked the online, download map option - got another warning message - saying should usually upload new map from PC - clicked OK
progress bar was displayed - but nothing else happens - Kmanager is not responding - cannot close it - message ( just one this time ) comes up with the access violation message same as before.
have to use task manager to close it down
tried 2 or 3 times - same result each time
comms with ECU is OK - i can still datalog
ECU is not protected

would very much appreciate your help - i want to view and adjust the existing map

If it was tuned with a K100 originally then it most likely has security set and that is why it will not allow you to download from the ECU.

hi

thanks again for the response Spunkster
regarding security - in the drop down menu it says security is not set

also - the first time i tried it i did get a Kal file to download - just some and not all data was present in the tables - some columns filled - others had zeros - i can send you this file if you would like

if protected - i don't think it would allow download at all? can you confirm ?

It all depends on what version of software was used to upload the calibration originally. It may try to download a psecutity enabled calibraiton and it will jsut give errors or bad data. If you cannot download the calibration from the ECU there is really nothing more that can be done and you will have to start with a new calibration and retune.

OK - thanks again for the help

version 1.4.5 tells me the Kal in the ECU was created with 1.4.1 - which is the same version i was trying to download it with originally. that did not work - or only worked partially

when i used 1.4.1 to try to download it originally is also told me that the ECU was not set to Security Protected - so can we rule that out as the problem?

Try closing all windows inside the Kmanager software when you download from the ECU. If it still does not work, then there is nothing more that can be done.

OK - great, i think that worked

Kmanager version 1.4.1 ( the same as was used to program the ECU ) with all windows closed downloaded the Kal file

is there a way to check it for errors ?
