vtec point and cam settings

If vtec it set to the typical 4300 rpm and we want the high speed cam to be at 50 in the low rpm range.

many calibrations set the low speed cam to 40 just before vtec so it gets a head start moving towards 50.

But every calibration I see has the low speed cam set to 40 on the 4500 rpm row. Isn't that too late. The low speed cam never sees 4500 rpm.

Shouldn't we set the low speed cam to 40 on the 4000 rpm row???

once the ECU hits 4001 RPM, it begins reading from both the 4000 and 4500 row and therefore begins turning the cam toward 40 before it hits VTEC at 4300.

You can set it to 40 @ 4k, it will just advance the cam sooner.
