FlashPro upload fails with Code 0x22 Step 10

Post by Gernby »

I finally upgraded to FPM 1.1.6.7 this week, and now I'm having intermittent upload failures. I tried flashing my primary AND secondary calibration this morning multiple times, but the FlashPro would start out like normal (Green, Red, and Yellow LED's on), but after a few seconds, the red and yellow LED's would just turn off instead of doing the usual flashing sequence for 90 seconds. This has happened twice in the last 3 days.

When I connect the FlashPro to my PC, FPM says "The last FlashPro upload failed. Failure information : Code 0x22 Step 10 Address 0x000000".

What's the deal E Yo?!

There is a fault with the WEN (write enable) line from the FlashPro to diagnostic connector to the ECU. We've seen this a few times - the signal on the WEN pin is fairly low voltage and a bad connection somewhere in the connector or vehicle wiring will give this error.

Check the OBDII connector pins and ensure they are not loose, bent or broken. WEN is pin 12.

If that looks ok, then you're going to need to trace the pin from the OBDII connector to the ECU pin and check the connectors along the way.

Ah, crap. I have plugged this FlashPro into my OBDII port at least 600 times (literally), so it wouldn't surprise me if I've just worn it out.

If the bad connection is internal to the FlashPro cable, can I get a replacement?

Have a look at the connector first and determine where the problem lies. It make be on the vehicle end.

The connector under the dash is loose on 1 side, and has been for many months. I broke it loose when I was trying to plug in another OBDII datalogger. Ever since then, I've had to be extremely careful about how hard I push when I plug in the FlashPro. However, the pins on the car's connector are perfect.

I bought an extension cable so that I could quit having to constantly plug / unplug the connector under the dash, and that seems to work well. However, I'm sure that I will eventually wear out the connector or cable for the FlashPro, so I hope that it will be possible to get a replacement. :)

Try it on another vehicle and see if it works correctly. That way you know where the problem is.

Just FYI

this error was encountered 2 days ago, when i first uploaded calibration WITHOUT laptop with older firmware, then tried with a newest version - always got this error. 5 seconds of red "program" light and immediate abort each time.

finally i upgraded software on laptop, firmware, and uploaded calibration with a new software manager. this worked just fine.
