Unable to use Boost Control

Hello,

I have been trying to troubleshoot my ECU boost control for quite some time. I have a turbocharged 98 Integra GS-R with Hondata S300 P28 ECU with built-in OBD2A connector. It has the boost control components as I am looking at Q29 and D14 at the moment. I'm using a GReddy solenoid that I have tested as good. .And the solenoid is connected to pin A7.

I have never been able to so much as get a click out of the solenoid. In troubleshooting I have the solenoid disconnected and been monitoring "BstC" in the Sensors window. It NEVER lights up as "On." Even setting the activation pressure to 1kPa. Or leaving it normal and driving around coming into boost.

Any troubleshooting help would be much appreciated. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.

Boost control uses pin A11 not A7.

I'm OBD2A though.

OBD1 Input/Output OBD2A OBD2B
B5 - ACS C5 A27
B8 - PSP C16 A26
D4 - SCS C7 A10
D2 - BKSW D5 A32
D6 - VTP C15 C10
D10 - ELD D16 A30
D12 - EGRL D9 C6
A11 - Boost Control A7 B7

That "BstC" entry in the sensors windows... Should that be showing "On" even if the solenoid is an open circuit right now?[/b]

ok, sorry. You will need to provide a datalog showing the problem.

No problem. Thanks for trying to help.

I think it would help me troubleshoot if I knew what caused the "BstC" to show "On." I'm assuming it becomes active whenever boost control is enabled and MAP is above the activation pressure. I have fixed duty cycle set at 20% for right now and activation 110kPa (I had it at 1kPa before to test). I have not seen "BstC" go "On" once ever.

Right now am just running direct to wastegate spring and the pwm circuit is open. The solenoid is not connected mechanically or electrically. If you have any suggestions to help me troubleshoot, please advise. :)

BstC is boost cut. Look at PWM to see the duty cycle of the PWM output.

Thanks. I was pointed in the wrong direction. I thought it stood for Boost Control. I will troubleshoot the hardware side of the output now.

Look at your graph, set it up to show boost control and you will see the PWM %. In your datalog you will see that the PWM went to 20%.

Yup, I saw that now. :)

My next step is to connect the solenoid up in my passenger seat and make sure I can hear it opening. I am using one of the 12v sources into the ECU for my switched 12v. Any problem with doing that?

I would recommend that you get the power from the under dash fuse box.

I got it all working now. I didn't like my GReddy solenoid, so I purchased a Hondata one locally. It is much more predictable and reliable than the Greddy one. The Greddy valve even stuck open a few times. Now I couldn't be happier. Thank you both for your help. I will take the advice and use 12v from the fusebox too.
