Vtec point 4000rpm on k20a2?
Vtec point 4000rpm on k20a2?
Does this seem very low? Dyno tuned it and low cam didn't seem to make much power no matter what cam angle I gave it the torque curve was pretty much flat past 2500rpm however high cam yielded good gains and from 4000rpm upwards high cam was making more power than low cam. Mods are 2.25" catback, k swap header and rbc intake mani. What are people's taughts on this? Spunkster i'd like to hear your opinion on this.
Tuned on the dyno. I just expected low cam to make better power than it did, it peaked power low cam around 2500rpm and stayed flat all the way whereas high cam started making more torque from 4k onwards, I assume its ok just taught it was oddantedc5-s wrote:are you tuning on the street or the dyno? if your on a dyno set the vtec at 3k do a dyno run.....then set the vtec at 6k n do a dyno run, overlap the two graphs and where ever the torque curves meet/cross is your vtec point
I've tuned quite a few K20s which like Vtec around 4000-4300 rpm for a VTEC point. Just make sure you don't turn VTEC on until around 5000 in light load conditions otherwise you will experience VTEC popping on when cruising around shifting gears at 5k.
My TSX likes 4200 RPM but that is with the larger k24. I seem to find the cars with stock headers like 4000rpm, but Race Header cars like 4500+ when I test them on the dyno.

Yes I set the low load vtec point to 5500 8)mkulak wrote:I've tuned quite a few K20s which like Vtec around 4000-4300 rpm for a VTEC point. After talking to Doug it seems its perfectly fine and not uncommon.
