Zero knock at 0* cam advance. Tons at 10+

Post by deadphishy »

I'm tuning my Nice little budget k20a2 motor. It has BC stage 2 cams and supertech valve springs. One thing i noticed is that if i lock the VTC to 0* i get little to no knocks. But as soon as i let the VTC roll forward at all, i start getting tons of knock. Knock that ignition timing and or bettr fuel isn't removing. My question is this a classic sign of Ghost knock from the valve train?

Any advice on tuning part throttle ignition on such a loud motor?

Almost certain it is the cam whipping the chain around. Because of this, there is no way the ECU will detect real knock over the amount of noise.
