GSR/B18C1 swapped civic ex, p28 S300.

Car drives pretty good with the "stock usp72" cal. but had issues revving out past 6K and VTEC doesn't engage. Wideband showed very rich and I tracked the prob to the catalytic converter self destructing and choking the car out. Now the cat is gone but It'll only rev to around 7K and still no VTEC.
I know cars very well but I'm pretty new to tuning.
Anyone feel like sending some charity my way?

If it helps any, the motor has 40K miles and with the exception of a cheap 4-2-1 header and CAI is completely stock including intake manifold.

I also noticed that the cal was in open loop and that the stock 02 sensor threw a CEL so I've changed the cal to use the wideband feedback and run closed loop but I think I need to lower the target voltage as after driving it a few days the AFRs seem a bit lean. Highway driving at a steady 65mph with cruise on show the AFRs continually cycling from 13.9 to 16.0 back and forth.

Try the ECU on a known good vehicle. If it works properly then you know you have either a wiring or mechanical problem.

Found the problem. VTEC spool error disable was checked in the software. When I unchecked it, I got a CEL and fixed the issue (bad splice). The car revs comfortably to 8K now and pulls all the way.
I noticed that my tach is off, however. The log shows rpm @ 8100 and tach reads 7200. It seems to me that this is, very likely, a typical problem that could occur with any stock gauges. Is there any type of compensation that can be made for this? Or is an aftermarket tach in order?
