Ignition On in KManager with no key inserted

Quick post to see if there's known cause of this before I write up a full report with my serial # etc. I can't get to that info right now.

I have an '04 Sk2 KPro running 1.4.1.0 KManager (I've not tried 1.4.0.0 yet to test if this is a software issue). There's no issues reading and uploading to the ECU and it seems to be running just fine but the fact that the software always thinks the ignition is on concerns me.

Non plug and play modifications done to the car are a high/low boost switch on E22 and the extra relay and wiring required to run the RSX wideband O2 sensor.

Can you upload to the ECU with the key removed?

I didn't want to try in case it did something bad. I'll check when I get home this evening and let you know.

Results so far. In every case where the key was not in and turned fully KManager would error out when attempting to upload data. But it would try to upload.

On the first connection this evening the software read the ECU as online and the ignition off as you would expect when working correctly.

After that, even with the key removed it would claim the ignition was on.

I shut down KManager, removed the USB cable then started KManager first before plugging in the cable back in. Then, repeated the same procedure only plugging in the cable before starting KManager just to cover both potential starting conditions. Both connection orders showed the false Ignition On reading.

I'm going to let it sit for a few hours and see if I can replicate the seemingly correct response I got when I first hooked up the laptop this evening.

Hopefully some of this data is useful to you.

Edit: Connected the laptop again 3 hours later, still showing Ign On with no key.

It does this sometimes on the bench as well. I wouldn't loose any sleep over it.

Ok, cool. That's good to know.

I assume if the upload fails as it did when I was testing with no key you should always reupload?

The key must be on to upload.
